The Importance of a Sacred Writing Space

If you want to be a successful writer you need a place to write
Our brains program certain areas for different events.
For example, your couch may be associated with movie time or your bed associated with sleeping
One thing I often hear women say is they struggle with having the motivation to write.
While this happens to the best of us one strategy that helped me to combat this is to create a writing haven. When I began my writing journey I decided to create an area in my home in which I would dedicate to my writing projects.
While I didn’t write their 100% of the time I did use that space for my writing activities only. The neat thing about it is writing became easy when I sat down in my writing space. It was because after a while my brain started to associate that space with my books and journals. We hear all the time how beneficial it can be to designate spaces for certain activities, but it wasn't until I tried it that I realized how life-changing it was.
Now your writing haven doesn’t need to be all decked out. It literally can be a desk and computer or a couch and lap desk or even the floor for you to sit on and write. It doesn’t need to be an entire room either it can be a corner or a closet (after all that’s where I started). Whatever works for you and makes you comfortable.
Here are the key things you need to make your writing place conducive to your goals :
  1. A quiet place
  2. A place you can access as often as needed
  3. A comfy place You want to make it comfortable because you will be spending a lot of time there
  4. Good lighting
  5. Motivational pictures or phrases
Creating this area was not only life changing for me but I have shared this strategy with hundreds of women who too have had a positive experience with it.
So tell me where do you typically write? And how does that make you feel?
If your writing space isn’t motivating you to write more then it’s time to make some changes.
