"Women Can't Do This"

"Don't worry, women can't do that."

This was a very triggering end to a conversation I had with a stranger at the gym that helped me develop a goal-setting muscle I am grateful for to this day.

One sunny day I was visiting the gym trying to stay on top of my fitness. I passed this older gentleman doing pull-ups and honestly making them look super easy. I stopped to compliment him (which already made my introvert side cringe). I said "wow you make that look so easy" and his response was "it's easy for men, but don't worry women can't really do this."

Anyone who knows me knows I HATE when someone tells me I can't do something. I walked away to avoid saying what was on my mind and immediately ordered a pull-up bar for my house. It came about two days later thanks to Amazon prime and my brother immediately installed it for me. In my mind, I convinced myself that if I could learn to do five pull-ups I would be able to prove him wrong, haha.

Anyway because the pull-up bar was attached to my door every single time I left out of my room I would jump up and practice a few pull-ups....by the end of January I had learned how to do 5 without the struggle.

Since then I have moved the pull up bar (bc honestly I was tired of not being able to close my door) and to be real I haven't done one since, but I am going to get back to it I promise because the greatest lesson this experience taught me was to ALWAYS keep my goals in front of me and take inspired action!
