How to Use Instagram as a New Coach

Instagram is one of the best social media platforms to get started building your brand, increasing your impact and your income. The trouble is many people feel overwhelmed with where to begin.

When I first began my business I put all my energy on Facebook because that was the social site I was most familiar with. While I did get a lot of traction on Facebook I missed out on a lot of amazing connections by putting Instagram on the back burner. I now know Instagram is a sweet spot for my audience and from years of practice and trial and error runs I have learned a lot about it. Today I am going to share three hacks to maximize your reach on Instagram without the frustration or overwhelm

  1. Use hashtags.

    Not enough people maximize the power of hashtags. If you want to get in front of new people use hashtags that your audience would be looking for. If you’re wondering what are the best hashtags to use try one of two things. First go to someone in your market to see what hastags they use. Click a few and see what other related hashtags are in that market. Create a list of a few you can pull from. Or your can take some time to consider your ideal client. Then consider: What problems are my ideal clients struggling with? What words do they use to describe those problems? What results are they looking for? After you reflect on this research those hashtags to determine if you want to add them to your posts. For regular posts, lives or reels you can use up to 30. In your stories. Simply you can use up to 10. Add them to the text of your stories, and then pinch them in the corner so they aren’t huge and distracting.

  2. Show up consistently and make sure to be seen!

    If you post once in a blue moon know that your results will reflect that. For Instagram the best places to show up are posting on your account, using reels, go live and share to your stories. Not only will this help with the algorithm and get your account shown more you’re reaching people where they are at. Some people love reels while others love stories and then there are some that just love posts. Having multiple ways you’re showing up is going to help you expand your reach for your audience.

  3. Get active on your own account.

    Start posting-share the results you’re seeing with your clients, showing what you’re working on and give behind-the-scenes peeks. Share value and also share how people can work with you. Also be sure to comment on other accounts and respond to those who comment on your account. Understand the more value you bring and the more consistent you are the more people will begin to be magnetized towards you and trust what you have to share. It also may inspire them to share your stuff with their audience as well.
