5 “must do’s” to help you build a successful business

Building a business is not for the faint of heart. So today, I want to share five must dos that you have to incorporate if you want to be able to build a sustainable, profitable and impactful business.

The first must do is you have to be consistent. If you show up in business one day and then you're gone the next, how could people ever be able to trust you? You make promises to them, but don't keep them to yourself, people notice that!

The truth is, when you are consistent in business, you not only build that trust, but more importantly, on the back end you build efficiency. So, for example, I like to record YouTube videos and write blogs often. There was a period of time I was out on surgery leave. After four weeks when I picked back up to be able to record a video, it took a lot longer for me to get back in the flow. It also took a minute to get my writing creative juices flowing. For a long time I made a habit out of these things, but with that time off while necessary I lost a little momentum and got out of my routine. When you're consistent, you build that efficiency for yourself and on the front end you build that trust for your tribe.

The second must do is that you must have goals and you must hold yourself to higher standards. If you cannot see your goal in your mind, you will never see it in your reality. So you must make it crystal clear in order to set the intentions and align your actions to the success you desire to create.

The third must do is you have to take risks. If you try to always stay in your comfort zone, you will never grow. The success that you desire and deserve is far outside of your comfort zone. So you must stretch yourself in ways that are probably going to feel challenging, that will feel a little bit overwhelming, that will definitely feel uncomfortable, but they will be so worth it.

The fourth must do to have a successful, profitable and impactful business is taking care of yourself. If you leave a nine to five but carry the nine to five mindset into the entrepreneurial space, you won't succeed. So if you find yourself buying into the hustle, normalizing the burnout and to the hard work etc you are not going to find business to be overwhelming, but it will likely not be successful. The truth is, you cannot pour from an empty cup. So consider ways that you can take care of yourself, prioritize your self care so that you can ultimately show up as your best self for those that you're working with. They too deserve your best energy.

Finally, the fifth must do is getting support. So when I started my business. I bought into this idea that I can move faster and I could make it happen quicker, and I let myself believe that I would be the only one that would truly care about my business. Because of this way of thinking I tried to protect myself by not telling other people about my vision or trying to do it all on my own. While I feel like I moved faster, I wasn't able to move further until I got the support that I needed. There is so much support in having a team. So I challenge you to identify a good mentor, a coach and someone that can support you at being able to help you see your vision through. Like I mentioned earlier, building a business is not easy or seamless or void of hard work. Building a business, though, is so worth it. So what I would love to challenge you to consider is which of these five strategies can you begin to implement and commit to so that you can build the business that you desire and deserve?
