How to Make Writing Easier
So you have been wanting to write a book for sometime. The idea of it sounds great but the actual writing process is a whole nother story. I get it completely, after writing several books and working on my blog regularly I know how overwhelming it can be to get the inspiration you need to write. Today I want to share some strategies that I have used to help me make writing easier.
- Use writing prompts. Prompts always work especially when they are even more relevant in our busy, mind-cluttering world of choices, voices, and loud noises. Feel free to look at other books or google writing prompts to get some inspiration.
- Share with a receptive accountability personnel. Begin to write but know that you will share this work with someone who is going to give you honest feedback. You need criticism that motivates and inspires you not critique that tells you what you want to hear or that is so harsh you never want to write again.
- Rid yourself of perfectionism. Write without the idea that what you write has to be perfect. Just write and worry about the adjustments and editing later on. And remember all authors need editing the stuff you read did not present as perfect before you read it. Stay encouraged.
- Schedule writing time. Put it on your calendar like you would a doctors appointment or work meeting . Remember this appointment is non negotiable and very very important . If you can work hard to attend other things in your life you have to work hard to attend to your goals.
- Eat the elephant one bite at a time. In other words .Set small writing goals. For example you may say you want to have a 20,000 word book. Those words will hang over your head and overwhelm you causing you to want to throw in the towel. Instead of setting that as a goal set small goals that will eventually equal that.
These strategies have worked time and time again so when you’re feeling the frustration and overwhelm try one of these out to give yourself a fresh start and get the momentum you need to succeed on your writing journey.
