So you wrote a book ... Where is your blog ?

When you’re a new author you should always have a home base for people to follow up with you on. I highly suggest using those great writing skills to create a blog.
But many new authors still feel stuck with what they should write about and the truth is that the answer is limitless. Here are things you can write about on your blog as a new author
  1. The process to write your book: many people want to become authors but don’t feel like the dream can happen for them. Sharing your experience can make the dream more tangible for those that are interested.
  2. Things you’re doing with your book: many people who enjoy your book want to know what you’re doing next. So are you going to a book expo or doing a tour share it ALL!
  3. Your life: people who loved your writing or stories will love to know more about you personally. You can share your trials or blessings with the world and a tribe of people that are truly interested and invested in you.
  4. Excerpts: some people may hesitate to purchase your book without truly knowing you. You can use your blog to give previews of your book that way it can attract potential buyers and allow them to have a taste of what you have to offer. Just don’t give too much- It can range anywhere from a couple of sentences to a 100-word excerpt.
  5. Advice- when you become an author you are often viewed as an expert in your field. You can choose to expand on your area of expertise and share advice and tips with your following....after all, they will trust you.
Many writers get scared of the commitment to start a blog. My best suggestion is to just be you and allow your creative side to take the lead. Blogs are way more personal and the more personal, open and honest you are the more you’re likely to attract people to you. Also, note if you can write a book you have the skills to write. Blogging regularly is a great way to keep your skills up to date!
