How to step in your power

Recently I went to a conference . I spent a great deal of time there - 32 hours to be exact and I had a TON of red flags within the first hour.
Now I am a person who values commitment ! While this can be a good thing in a lot of different situations, there are some cons as well. I often read books that I started even if I don’t like them simply because I committed. I stayed in unhealthy situations because I made a commitment. This conference was another example. I made an investment (time and money) and a commitment so I felt tied to it. The idea of walking away was hard - it actually tugged on my heart strings.
Through the conference there were a lot of things done that I think went against EVERYTHING I believed based on my experience as a certified life coach and a licensed counselor. It felt irresponsible and negligent and I honestly was overwhelmed with guilt for some of the attendees. I stayed for a long time because I kept trying to look for the value and sadly it kept feeling worse and worse.
There were lengthy blocks of time where I got no food, and also moments where I was followed to the bathroom. Very very awkward.
Now I was hesitant to share this because I believe what works for me might not work for you and vice versa but I felt it would be wrong for me not to let you in on my experience
After investing time, energy and effort I decided to leave. I walked out confidently and it was the best decision of my life.
I learned in that moment that I no longer have to OVER commit to something that doesn’t serve me.
