How to Market Your Book

The average author sells 250-300 copies in the lifetime of a book!
While that’s a good place to START that should not be the end.
The biggest mistake I see authors make is that they wait until they finish the book to start talking about it and then they don’t ever truly market it.
They often believe thag because the book is soooo good and they put in so much work it will market itself.
Wrong wrong wrong
The only way a book gets read is for it to 1. Be known about in the first place 2. For it to be more than information, but instead transformational
Take for example the book Think and Grow Rich. This book was written and published in 1937. Shortly after Napoleon Hill, the author, sadly passed away in 1975
Since then, he’s sold over 80 million copies of his book!

So hear me out.... he is selling books and he isn’t even “here” to sell them.
This proves that in order for your book to truly have an impact it must be changing lives for years and years to come.
When I set out to write my first book by big reason why was to leave a legacy for my daughters and to CHANGE LIVES.
this is why I am not only passionate about sharing my books and getting them into the hands of the right people, but also teaching other people to share their stories in which they can leave legacies as well.
If you know you are called to share your story and the only thing in your way is needing a strategy I have great news for you. I am going to share the four steps that will put you in a position to market more intentionally and let the world hear your voice.
  1. Know who your reader is - if you try to write a book to everyone you actually are writing it to no one. So truly understand who your ideal reader is. Is it a male and a female is an adult is it a kid do they have a specific need. The better you understand this the more you can write to them specifically and market to them intentionally.
  2. Know where they are - it’s important you understand where your audience is in order to market effectively. If you market on Facebook for a 6 year old boy you are likely not going to be heard as clearly as if you work with boys scouts or a school or some other organization. Understand that your marketing approach must be intentional.
  3. Get your book in front of them like it’s going out of style. Some people feel to salesy or sleezy if they talk about their book too much. But here’s a reality it is your obligation to share your book with the people who you know need it if you’re confident that it’s going to change their life.
  4. Make it clear why they need it. Sometimes we think that people should already just know that the book is impactful but if they haven’t read it they don’t really know the concept behind it how they know how it applies to them. Your job as the author is to make it clear why they need the book and how it’s going to help them specifically. People don’t just want general ideas they want to know how it’s going to work for them and why. When you make this clear then you’re more inclined to receive sales because people are excited to have an opportunity to use something that will help them.
