How Becoming Certified Changed My Business
When I first began my coaching business, there were so many things that I wanted to do with my clients, but I kind of felt helpless. It seemed like they would make a little bit of progress and then the deeper we went the less qualified I felt to be able to support them. It wasn't until I decided that I wanted to continue my education as it related to coaching that I decided to pursue my certification.
For me, I'm a lifelong learner and I'm always looking for things that boost my skill set so that I can bring it back to the clients that I work with so I was excited about this opportunity, but truthfully had no clue what to expect. Now, while many people will tell you there's no reason to be certified, I, on the other hand, have found certification to be the very thing that changed the trajectory of my business. For me, a second valuable point to that is that when you become certified, it makes you more credible. Think about it. You're asking people to trust you and invest with you. And if you're not doing the same thing in your life, how can you hold them to that? This is so important to understand as a coach that you're really setting the example as well. This is also a way to remain being in integrity.
A third benefit of becoming certified is that it helps you to stand out. Not every coach is certified. And when you say that you've gone through extra hours of learning or when you practiced or honed in on your craft, people now see your dedication to your overall role and it helps you to stand out as a highly sought after coach.
Lastly, when you become certified as a coach, you end up with a toolbox of strategies, systems as well as new and creative ways that you can go in depth and support your clients. This was so mind blowing for me because I came from the counseling background and I had a lot of strategies. But when I got certified, I was able to go even more in-depth and support and facilitate change among my clients in new and innovative, which I love.
