How to Effectively Use Your Power Hour

When my clients are working to create something amazing I often recommend a daily power hour and sometimes it's meant with resistance because let's be honest it can feel like we have no time.

I recently did some recent research and found that the average American wastes 2.09 hours per day. If I could be honest I think that number may actually be a lot higher. We often spend our time watching tv and scrolling social media mindlessly. When you're working on big goals it's so important for you use your time wisely.

Power hours give you permission to do just that. Power hours allow you to dig in and spend focused time on your goals and it adds up over time. Think about it if you spend 1 hour every day starting a business and growing it how much further would you be 365 days/365 hours later?

I know you're busy and it can feel like a heavy life but take a moment to consider this: Our life is a reflection of our day to day habits...what habit is your life reflecting?

We can't continue to give our energy to everything and everybody else at the cost of losing the effort we should be putting into our business.

Now a question I often get is how should I be spending my power hour! Here is an example of how I have spent mine and how you can maximize yours :

  1. MEDITATE and VISUALIZE what you want. Let your imagination and emotions run wild and get deeply in touch with that feeling.

  2. CREATE: Only after you're in a high energetic state. Are you going to make it a post or a video etc.

  3. ACTION: Now move forward in the direction you feel led. Are you using this time to create, to post, to go live, to record,to engage, to connect etc.

  4. REFLECT: What went well? What did not? How are you feeling?

  5. PLAN: Consider what you would like to get done tomorrow.

  6. DOCUMENT: How was the engagement? Where are you seeing growth and trends? What can you do knowing this information to allow for continuous growth.

Having a power hour is an amazing tool to use. When I was writing my first book I was able to finish it in 60 days because I made a temporary sacrifice of watching tv and replacing it with my writing power hour. It changed my life. It's funny because here I am all the years later and my power hour is now a priority - even when I have to give up something else. This practice has been so transformational. So I challenge you to put your power hour on your calendar. Make it a repeatable daily action. And fully commit to your success!
