Take your blog, book or podcast content and turn it into an online course

So you have an idea to create a course and you likely already have a ton of content ready to go whether it’s on your podcast your blog your book a dissertation study etc. The good news is you don’t have to reinvent the wheel if you already have studied a certain topic in depth or already resonate with your audience about a particular subject as well. In fact, many authors, bloggers, and podcaster's create online courses for extra ways to impact their audience while also increasing their income. Here are three ways you can take the content you already have and create an online course:

  1. Identify who your audience is- this is really important because maybe you have an audience that’s not super tech friendly and of course could overwhelm them. Or maybe you have an audience that has been begging for a course. Your job is to identify who your audience is and really go in depth with understanding them best. What are their needs? What are their pain points? What are their struggles? How can you support them? Determine what resonated with your audience.
  2. The next step is to consider the content you already have and how it has resonated with your audience. What do they love about your content? What do they struggle with? What are they not so interested in? What are they asking for more of? For example if you talk about finances a lot in your books but your audience seems to specifically be drawn to budgeting as opposed to retirement and now that gives you some insight into the idea of creating a course around budgeting not necessarily focused on retirement. Or for example if your blog is focused on healing during and after divorce but your audience seems to resonate most with the after effects of divorce now you know that you may need to niche down for your course and focus on life after divorce. Consider the way you can go more in-depth.
  3. Finally the last step that you need to take is to consider your audience and the topics that resonate with them. Is this something you feel you can go more in depth with? Often people assume that they can just take the material they already have pizza together and create a course. This is the least effective manner in course creation and ultimately not a good look. Instead I want you to think of the content you already have and if it’s possible how would you plan to go more in depth to not just provide information but you instead give your ideal learners transformation. Overall the idea of creating a course can feel extremely overwhelming but I want you to understand that if you already have content created you can build on that and create a very effective AND profitable course.
