Content Creation Plans For Coaches
Have you ever heard that you're supposed to post three times a day?
What about the percentages of how many posts need to be educational, entertaining and sales posts?
It's time that we do away with this idea that we create content just because it's on our never-ending to do list. Don't create content just for content creation’s sake. You have to learn how to create content that is sustainable for you and your lifestyle, as well as content that's engaging to your ideal audience.
I am going to really go against the grain here and say that I would rather you post one piece of great engaging content a week than a post three times a day just to check it off your to-do list. Today what we're going to talk about the tips that you can utilize to be able to create content that is sustainable and engaging and to do it with ease.
Know why you’re creating content
The first tip for a content creation plan is to know the goal of why you're creating specific content. I see so many people that just post just a post.
I even was guilty of doing this previously. I posted content because someone told me I needed to post a certain amount of times a day. There I would just be desperate and seeking and looking to try to find content to post when in reality I didn't really have a goal for that content. So ask yourself, are you creating content to increase visibility? Are you creating content because you want to generate more leads? Are you creating content because you want to build up the anticipation for an upcoming launch? What are you creating content for? And always keep that in mind.
The way that I've really transitioned in my business is that I stopped creating content just for content creation's sake. I now create every piece of content with intention, I mean, down to post that I make of my family because I want people to see who I am behind the brand. Every piece of content I create now has a purpose behind it, and yours should too.
Know where you’re creating content
With that said, you also want to know where you're creating. So are you creating content for LinkedIn? Are you creating content for a podcast? Are you creating content for YouTube? Are you creating content for Facebook or Instagram or TikTok? Understand that each of these social media sites are known for something specifically and resonate with a different audience.
For example, Instagram is really, really big on graphics and it needs to be beautiful pictures, engaging pictures. Whereas twitter is know for short bursts of educational content. Pinterest users recognize that they may often only stay on the site for a short time and then they will be taken somewhere else for the information they are seeking,
So as you see, content is going to look different on each platform. I highly suggest for my coaches that they pick two to three platforms that they really want to perfect and they know that their audience is there and then determine what kind of content you are going to create for those unique platforms.
If you're wondering how to pick the right platform, you need to know where your ideal audience is and what type of content you can create sustainably. Because your ideal audience may be on both Facebook and Instagram, but you're overwhelmed with the idea of creating reels. Maybe you start off with Facebook, or maybe you love those short bursts of content you're like.
The biggest mistake you can make is try to just jump on all of these social media platforms because what ends up happening is you spread yourself in trying to be in all of the places doing all of the things, and it's better for you to pick one to two places and show up consistently than for you to be on ten different social media sites and show up never.
Know your ideal client
The next step to a thorough content creation plan is to know your ideal audience inside and out. Having a deep knowledge of your ideal client is so important.
When you know who your audience is, you know what their pain points are. You know what they're struggling with, you know what they're seeking. You know how to speak to them. This is why it's so important that you really understand that you can't speak to everyone. You have to know exactly who your person is and speak to that person.
Showcase who you are
The next strategy is to showcase who you are. The biggest mistake that I see in this online coaching space is too many people trying to mirror and match what every other coach under the sun is doing.
So this coach posted on the beach I'm going to post on the beach. This coach posted all about her exclusive vacation. I'm going to talk about this fancy hotel I went to.
The question is that really aligned with your values? Is that really aligned with who you are behind the scenes? When we talk about the coaching space being oversaturated because we've all heard it, this is because everyone is copying and doing the same thing. But when you show up authentically as yourself and you leverage that authentic part of yourself, you are in a Lane of your own because no one can mirror or match who you authentically are designed to be.
One of the things that I do intentionally is I share a lot about what I have to offer. But I also share a lot behind the scenes, so I might share my work out for the day because that was a big part of how my brand was built. I started off talking and doing lives when I was doing walks. I share about my parenting and my children because a lot of the women that come to work with me are also parents.
The truth is, people don't just buy from brands. They buy from people who have brands that they resonate with. So, they're not just buying from a brand for the sake of buying from a brand. They want to know who is the person behind the brand and what part of your story can they relate to or what part of their life can you also understand and therefore be able to really support them with it? If you're a coach in this online space and the idea of not only understanding what makes you authentically or how to actually effectively leverage it overwhelms you, don't worry, I got just the thing for you.

Align your content with upcoming launches
The next strategy for an effective content creation plan is to align your content with upcoming launches and offers.
So, when you think about what it is that you are going to offer for the year, you essentially want to be able to pre-seed what's coming. So, for example, when I am getting ready to launch The Elevate Method, I will begin to inform my audience about the different modalities that are included inside of the program. So, I may spend a week talking about tapping or mindset etc. Or I may spend a week sharing different stats about life coaching and the value of it.
The reason that I do this is because I want to be able to bring value to my tribe. I want to be able to bring information to my audience so that when I go to launch, they also understand why this is valuable. So it's very imperative that when you're getting ready to launch something, you don't just show up on the scene ready to sell, but you also create ways to nurture and engage your tribe, building up until that point.
Repurpose Your Content
Finally, the last step to build a thorough content creation plan and to make it sustainable is to repurpose, repurpose, repurpose, repurpose. I am the Queen of repurposing.
I will take a blog and take that blog and turn it into a YouTube video, strip the YouTube video and turn it into a podcast. Essentially I'm creating one piece of content that goes across the platform to three different areas. Because of that, I'm able to meet my audience exactly where they're at. So if they really love listening to audio, they can tune into The Dr Nicolya Show. If they love YouTube videos, they can watch my YouTube video’s. If they love to read blog, they can head over to www.Nicolyawilliams.com and check out the blog.
With this repurposing plan I'm not burning myself out because I'm taking that one piece of content and expanding it into those three different areas. You could also get creative with your repurposing plan, and you could take a video that you record, and then you could say, all right, this is going to be a snippet. And I'm going to expand upon that and turn that into an entire master class. So, for example, I could turn this into a master class and talk about healthy content creation plans that make you have a sustainable business.
You can take what you share as an Instagram post, and you can turn that into an email that you send in a newsletter to your audience. You could take a master class that you recorded, strip the audio, expand upon that, and turn that into an eBook or an actual book. The process of helps to you with being able to build a brand that doesn't burn you out.
This is also so supportive to those creators and coaches that are in the online space that are like, I'm running out of things to talk about. Here's the truth. Online people don't see every single thing you post. The algorithm doesn't show that to them. So you can take an old post that you had and you can change it around.
You could add more value. You can break it into three posts if you want to, but do not feel like you have to drive yourself crazy trying to determine what it is that you should post, how to engage your tribe, take what you already have, build upon that, strip it, repurpose it.
This will save you so much time and energy, and it will support you in your business. If the idea of repurposing just lit you all the way up like it does for me, I want you to jump in to take my Repurpose and Relax workshop where you're going to learn a foolproof formula to actually learn how to repurpose in your business so that you can create more time for ease, flow and relaxation.
I want to give you some reflective questions to consider as you reflect on your current content. I
Does the content that I'm creating meet my potential clients where they're at and show them what it is that I can truly support them with?
Does this content creation process build this authority and this trust so that people can be magnetized to me and be ready to invest in that next level and not feel overwhelmed or fearful of that process?
And is there a way that I can push myself beyond my comfort zone to show more of who I am and what it is that I have to offer?
These tips that I shared with you today are to support you at being able to effectively doing that. So I challenge you to dive in and start to build out your content creation plan. When I tell you that it will change the game for you, I truly mean it. That's where the magic takes place.
